To quote the official website MeshCore is "a simple, secure, off-grid mesh communications system. Build your own low-cost, long-range, encrypted messaging network. You can still send messages even when WiFi, Cellular, and Starlink are down." MeshCore provides simple, secure texting via inexpensive nodes connected to your phone, tablet, or PC that can span miles if connected to other MeshCore nodes. A properly built out "Mesh" can span the entire CSRA and beyond that will remain stable and connected without external internet, cellular, or even power.
If you are coming from Meshtastic, MeshCore operates on almost all the same hardware but with a true infrastructure basis and emphasis on messaging instead of telemetry. If you are just getting started with meshing, then just know that MeshCore is a great way to be able to communicate to friends and family when other regular forms of communication fail.
MeshCore is fairly new to the CSRA but is quickly gaining ground. Currently the "Mesh" reaches from Harlem to Grovetown to Evans with plans to expand as we are able into Augusta and N. Augusta. Want to see it in your area? Setup a repeater node as high as possible and reach out on our Discord or Facebook group!
